Learn How to Confirm Ownership of Your Newly Connected Domain

Updated over 6 months ago

Before activating your own domain on TWICE, you must verify ownership and direct the domain to your TWICE store. This article guides you through the necessary DNS changes in your domain provider’s settings.

Verify Your Domain

Verifying a Subdomain

  1. Log In: Access your account on your domain provider’s website.

  2. Access DNS Settings: Navigate to the DNS settings or domain management area.

  3. Update CNAME Record:

    • Add or update the CNAME record for your desired subdomain to point to rentle.domain.

    • You may retain the default TTL value provided in your DNS settings.

Verifying the Main Domain

Choose between Basic Setup and Advanced Setup based on your needs:

  • Basic Setup:

    1. Log In: Access your account on your domain provider’s website.

    2. Access DNS Settings: Navigate to the DNS settings or domain management area.

    3. Modify DNS Records:

      • Delete all your A records with @ key. Delete all existing AAA records with @ key

      • Add or update the two DNS records displayed on the verification screen.

      • Maintain the default TTL value.

  • Advanced Setup:

    • This is suitable for ensuring proper redirection from non-www to www versions of your domain directly using HTTPS.

    • Follow the detailed instructions available in the TWICE Verify Domain view or consult additional documentation on setting up root domain HTTPS redirection.

Complete the Verification

After updating the DNS records for either your subdomain or main domain:

  1. Verify: Click the Verify button in the Verify Domain modal.

  2. Verification Process: TWICE will check the DNS records. If correct, your domain will be added to your domains list, the verification will complete, and an SSL certificate will automatically secure the domain.

Troubleshooting Failed Verification

If verification fails:

  • An error message will display, guiding you through necessary corrections.

  • Consult the guide on the most common domain verification errors and pitfalls for additional assistance.

DNS updates may take from a few minutes to several days to propagate, depending on your DNS provider. If errors persist after updating records, select Verify Later to attempt verification at a later time.

After Your Domain Has Been Verified

Once your domain verification is successful:

  • Your domain will appear in your domains list, possibly still marked as "Verifying."

  • Finalizing the verification process may take a few hours, during which:

    • A secondary verification ensures a secure connection.

    • An SSL certificate is issued, indicated by a padlock icon next to your domain name, ensuring secure communication between your customers and TWICE.
